Far Western Regional Director
Shelby D. Boagni
Shelby D. Boagni has been a member of the Sorority for 34 years and is a Silver and Life member. She was initiated in the Alpha Gamma Omega Chapter, the oldest and largest graduate chapter in the Far Western Region and the only chapter in Southern California to own a sorority house. The Alpha Gamma Omega Sorority house is located in the historic West Adams district of Los Angeles, and the chapter has been serving the greater Los Angeles community for 95 years.
Regional Director Boagni has served in several leadership positions within the Sorority on the chapter, regional, and international levels including Chapter Financial Secretary, Chapter Assistant Secretary, Chapter Second Vice-President, Chapter President, 90th Far Western Regional Conference Workshop Chairman, and Far Western Regional Representative to the International Leadership Development Committee. In July 2020, Mrs. Boagni was installed as the Far Western Regional Director. Dr. Glenda Baskin Glover, International President & CEO appointed Regional Director Boagni as Directorate Liaison to the International Graduate/Undergraduate Taskforce and International Sanctions Committee.
Throughout her membership, Regional Director Boagni has received accolades for her leadership. As an astute businesswoman, she lends her love for organizing people, building infrastructure, and managing risks to her work in the Sorority. In 2016, Regional Director Boagni was appointed to the International Leadership Development committee by Dr. Dorothy Buckhanan Wilson, 29th International President. As a committee member, Regional Director Boagni developed and presented her signature workshop, Politically Savvy, Professionally Smart, to hundreds of members at the 2017 Leadership Seminar and 2018 Boule. Soror Shelby's workshop was the highest-rated workshop at the 2017 Leadership Seminar.
One of Regional Director Boagni’s proudest moments in the Sorority came as President of Alpha Gamma Omega Chapter in 2011. During her administration and under the 23rd Far Western Regional Director, Dr. LaVern S. Tarkington, she led the chartering of the Tau Kappa Chapter on the campus of Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles. Today, Tau Kappa is thriving, recently being named "Undergraduate Chapter of The Year'' and boasting its first Undergraduate Cluster Coordinator and International Leadership Fellow.
Regional Director Boagni has received numerous awards for her work in the Sorority, among them the Mildred L. Robinson Outstanding Chapter President Award, the Charlene D. Carodine Unique Professional Achievement Award, and the LaVern S. Tarkington Leadership Development Award.
Professionally, Regional Director Boagni is a Human Resources executive with experience in varying industries. She has launched and driven Human Resources initiatives and innovation within global highly matrixed organizations. She has led HR functions in several Fortune 500 companies, including The International House of Pancakes, LLC., The Home Depot, Mars, Inc., The Walt Disney Company, and McDonald's Corporation. Currently, Regional Director Boagni is the Senior Vice President of People and Culture at the Performing Arts Center of Los Angeles County (The Music Center)
Regional Director Boagni has a strong commitment to improving underserved communities through increasing access to higher education for students of color. Regional Director Boagni is a member of The Links, Incorporated, Carrousels, Incorporated, and serves as a Board Trustee for her high school Alma Mater, St. Mary’s Academy, located in Inglewood, California. Regional Director Boagni is a proud Howard University alumna and can
boast that she was the first of five family members, including her brother and daughter, to graduate from Howard.
Regional Director Boagni is proud of her strong family legacy in Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. She is the daughter of 50-year member, Susan Price and the mother of one daughter, member Lindsay Robinson, an attorney living and working in Washington, DC. Regional Director Boagni is married to her high school sweetheart, Gregory, and they reside in Los Angeles, California.
