Danette Anthony Reed is the First Vice President for Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. She comes to this position with more than 42 years of committed service to Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. She is a Life Member, initiated in the Gamma Chi Chapter at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois. Danette is a Charter Member of Omicron Mu Omega Chapter in Dallas, Texas, where she has held numerous offices, including President, First Vice-President, Treasurer, Assistant Secretary, and Parliamentarian.
Danette’s educational background includes a Master’s of Business Administration from Southern Methodist University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Engineering from Northwestern University.
Danette is a retired corporate executive for PepsiCo, Frito-Lay Division. She was the first African-American woman Plant Director for Frito-Lay, where she led the startup of the Dallas Baked Snacks manufacturing facility that produced snack foods. Danette was awarded a PepsiCo Chairman’s Award, which recognizes and rewards distinguished and extraordinary leaders.
Her service to the Sorority includes the offices of International Treasurer, Chapter President, Educational Advancement Foundation, and Housing Foundation treasurer. Additionally, she served as Chairman of the International Finance Committee, and member of the Investment, Building & Properties, Strategic Planning, and Nominating Committees.
Outside of her leadership roles in Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, Danette is a Charter Member of the Greater Denton County Chapter of The Links, Incorporated, a member of Carrousels of Dallas, a member of Top Ladies of Distinction, Incorporated, Board Member for the YMCA of Plano, a former Girl Scout Leader, and former member of the Parks and Recreation Board for the City of Carrollton, Texas.
Danette is a devoted and loving mother to her adult children, Anthony and Erynn.
