A compassionate leader with a heart for community service, philanthropy, and education Jennifer King Congleton of Greenville, North Carolina is the Mid-Atlantic Regional Director of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated. For over 45 years, Jennifer has been a dedicated member of the organization, serving faithfully on the local, regional and international level.
Ms. Congleton was initiated into the Theta Alpha Chapter at East Carolina University where she earned both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees. Currently, she is a member of the Iota Kappa Omega Chapter in Greenville, North Carolina where she has served in numerous roles such as Basileus, Anti-Baslieus, Tamiouchous, and Graduate Advisor. Given her depth of sorority knowledge and infectious joyful spirit, Jennifer’s leadership was sought to serve as the 57th Mid-Atlantic Regional Conference Chairman, Eastern Carolina Cluster Coordinator, Regional Awards & Exhibits Co-Chair and on the Graduate Advisor’s Task Force. Moreover, she has represented the Mid-Atlantic Region on the International Program Committee.
Professionally, Ms. Congleton is the Director of Volunteer Services at Vidant Medical Center where she is responsible for leading the hospital’s pastoral care department and approximately 345 community volunteers. She gives of her time locally as a member of the East Carolina University Board of Visitors, the Pitt Community College Foundation Board, the National Council of Negro Women, and National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. Jennifer is the immediate past president of the The Links Incorporated, Wilson-Rocky Mount-Tarboro Chapter, a graduate of the Pitt-Greenville Chamber of Commerce Leadership Institute and was the 2015 Volunteer of the Year at the American Cancer Society Hope Lodge. At Cornerstone Missionary Baptist Church, Jennifer serves as a Sunday School Teacher, Usher and on the Communications Ministry.
Though Ms. Congleton is very active in her local community and engaged in the activities of Alpha Kappa Alpha, she treasures time with her family, especially her son Julian.
